Instructions for using straight shank end mills

The straight shank end mill refers to the main cutting edge on the cylindrical surface, and the cutting edge on the end face is the secondary cutting edge. During operation, it is not possible to perform feed motion along the axis of the milling cutter. Today, I will introduce the usage of straight shank end mills:
1. End mill vibration. Due to the small gap between the end mill and the tool holder, the tool may experience vibration during the machining process. Vibration can cause uneven cutting of the circular edge of the end mill, and increase the cutting expansion compared to the original value, affecting the machining accuracy and tool service life. But when the groove width is too small during machining, it is also possible to purposefully make the tool vibrate and obtain the required groove width by increasing the cutting expansion. However, in this case, the end mill should be limited to a larger amplitude of 0.02mm or less, otherwise stable cutting cannot be carried out.
2. When CNC milling is used to cut the cavity of workpieces such as molds with the end edge of the end mill. When the cutting point is a concave part or a deep cavity, the extension of the end mill needs to be extended. If a long edge end mill is used, due to the large deflection of the tool, it is prone to vibration and cause tool breakage. Therefore, during the machining process, if only the cutting edge near the end of the tool is needed for cutting, it is better to choose a tool with a longer total length
